The Power Of Creativity
In my eyes, creativity is a driving force that allows us to introduce avenues for a better world. That can be in business, politics, medicine, you name it. We have to tap into our creative energy in everything that we do because if we are intentional about what we are creating, society is aided in some way, shape, or form, regardless of how big or small.
Let us look at the example of a podcast. X can wake up one day and feel called to starting a podcast centred around mental health, and shedding light on its importance. In its foundational phases, it may have a few people listening, maybe 5-10, but those are 5-10 humans whose lives are being impacted drastically in a way in which they are being elevated. This will positively manifest as better results in school, work, improved relationships, increased ambition, and more. All due to one person simply creating.
Music, medicine, education, business. All powerful aspects of life that influence how the world works. All were in their core just an idea. An idea that via stimulation, intention, and energy, turned into what they are today. Our minds are so unique and special because they allow us to create. This is a gift that we should embrace and take advantage of, especially if we have any hopes of living in a better world.
I had a conversation with an Uber driver not too long ago, and we were talking about the future of Africa. Although very optimistic, we concluded that it is nice to have a beautiful vision for Africa and the world as a whole, but avenues have to be created to make that vision manifest into existence. We have to create a better Africa because no one else will. It is all fun and games having these discussions, but with creativity, we actually bring these discussions into reality. That is why I actually started this blog. In its core, it is simply a creative outlet for me to birth an avenue for change.
Yes artists eat, sleep, and breath creativity, but deep down we are all artists. Our dreams are the canvas and our belief is the paint. We do not have to dumb down our imagination all in the name of being logical and analytical. We have a left brain and right brain for a reason. The left side of the brain is methodical, analytical and logical, as opposed to the right side of the brain which is artsy, creative, and emotional. In the modern day, we tend to exercise the left brain way more than the right, but remember, balance is everything.
"There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns." - Edward De Buno.
