The Art Of Detachment
One thing that I’ve realised as a result of growing my awareness is that being attached to anything or anyone limits us when trying to be free. I say this because in everything that I’ve experienced up until this point, being attached to people, situations, experiences, and outcomes, has forced me to act out of character, expect things, and live life based off things out of my control.
I’ve come to understand that in this world, the only real thing you can be attached to is your well-being, because everything outside of that consists of forces out of our control. Being reliant on these things is destined to have us stagnant.
Before I continue, I don’t want it to seem like I’m saying you shouldn’t care about anything or anyone other than yourself or your life. That’s not at all what I’m saying. All I’m trying to get across is that by detaching from all the things that don’t serve us for our highest good, we end up aligning ourselves with the right circumstances.
A lot of people, situations, or general things we experience in life, are just not meant for us. I’ve been in multiple friendships that don’t
serve me in any positive way whatsoever, but due to being attached to
them, I didn’t have the courage to distance myself. The more I’ve been
attached to anything in life, especially the negative things, I’ve found
myself being controlled. The moment I became conscious about the things I'm attached to, and made an effort to detach from them, I started attracting positive experiences without the limitations of being dependent on someone, something, or any situation.
I feel like one of the keys to being fulfilled in this life is to focus on the things that genuinely serve us positively, and detach from the things that affect us negatively. (deep down we all know what limits us) This way, all our energy is being used to literally grow. It’s funny because growth these days is so cliche, and when people talk about self improvement, in many cases it gets a yawning reaction, but any smart human being understands that the more you grow, the more likely you are to succeed…
